Who can use AusRedact
You must be 18 or over. If you use AusRedact for an organisation, you must be allowed to act for it. This policy is part of our Terms of use.
Only documents you may handle
Only upload a document if you have a lawful right to hold it and to process it in this way. That includes the personal information of every person in it.
If you handle documents for clients or for an employer, the privacy and confidentiality duties you already have still apply when you use AusRedact.
What you must not do
You must not use AusRedact to upload, process or share:
- anything that is unlawful to hold or share in Australia
- child sexual abuse material, of any kind
- intimate images of a person without their consent
- files built to attack our systems or other people, such as malware
You must not use AusRedact to:
- commit fraud, or make a forged or misleading document
- hide information you are legally required to give a court, a regulator or anyone else
- harass, threaten or harm anyone, or breach anyone's rights
- get around the free preview, our upload limits or our payment system
- upload files automatically or in bulk with scripts, or resell access to AusRedact, without our written agreement
- probe, scan or test our systems for weaknesses without our permission
- overload or disrupt the service, or try to reach data that is not yours
How we enforce this policy
Our staff do not browse documents, and there is no staff tool for viewing them. We rely on automated checks, such as malware scanning and upload limits, and on reports from people who see misuse.
If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may:
- stop a job and delete its files
- refuse service, or suspend or close an account
- report the matter to the police or another authority, where the law requires it or someone is at risk of harm
We act only where we reasonably believe there is a serious breach, or where the law requires it. If a breach can be fixed, we will first tell you and give you a fair chance to fix it, unless that would be unsafe or unlawful. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you what we did and why. If we stop a job you have paid for, or close an account, we refund the job and any unexpired unused pack pages, pro rata, unless the law stops us.
Reporting misuse
If you believe someone is misusing AusRedact, email support@ausredact.com.au with "Report misuse" in the subject. Describe what happened and when.
Never attach the document or the material itself. Describe it in words. We will reply within 2 business days, and act sooner on anything urgent.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.
If you come across child sexual abuse material, report it straight to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation. You can also report illegal and restricted online content to eSafety.
Reporting a security problem
If you find a weakness in AusRedact, email support@ausredact.com.au with "Security" in the subject. Tell us what you found and how to see it, and give us a reasonable time to fix it before you tell anyone else. Please do not access other people's data, and do not include anyone's personal information in your report.
